Podcasts to help kids fall asleep: what to look for
Not every kids' podcast is a bedtime podcast. Many are made to keep kids listening, which is the opposite of what you want at night.
Checklist
- No cliffhangers. Each episode should end calmly, not with a "find out next time."
- A slowing pace. Faster at the start is fine; slower and quieter by the end.
- Short episodes, about 10 to 15 minutes.
- Steady volume: no sudden loud sound effects or music.
- No ads in the middle of the story.
- A familiar routine: the same opening and ending each night.
Set expectations
No podcast can promise sleep. A good one makes the end of bedtime calmer and easier, and some nights that's enough for a child to drift off before it ends.
Try Sleepy Starship
Your child is Captain of the Sleepy Starship. With Choo-Choo, they visit one gentle new world each night, then fly home to bed. Episodes are about 10 to 11 minutes and end back home, safe and warm.
